The last 20 years she has focused her professional activity on sexology, giving special emphasis in the treatment of sexual dysfunctions.

Dr. Kirana has significantly contributed to the establishment of the European Accreditation of Psychosexologists. She was the first Chair of the corresponding European Committee (EFS and ESSM Psychosexology Accreditation Committee) and remained in this role for ten years (2013-2022). During her tenure she was responsible for the planning and implementation of the relevant written assessment exams, the material and the proficiency criteria. With her committee she organized a total of six examination procedures in which sexologists from a total of 36 countries were certified.

Dr. Kirana served as the chair of the Scientific Committee of the European Society of Sexology (EFS) for five years, while she is still a member of the Scientific Committee of the European Society of Sexual Medicine(ESSM), responsible for the sexology domain. Through these roles, she designed the scientific program of a total of eight European Sexology Congresses. In addition, every year she participates as an invited speaker at the most important international conferences.

The editorial and publishing work of dr. Kirana is mainly aimed at the education of sexologists. She has devoted much of her work to creating sexology manuals for health professionals.

• The most important is the EFS/ESSM manual of Clinical Sexology, for which she was selected as one of the four editors. It is a multi-authored book with the participation of 64 authors from all over the world. Published in 2013, it is still recognized as the a key sexology textbook. For her work on this book in 2013 she was awarded the honorary title Fellow of the European Committee on Sexual Medicine (honFECSM).
• Of similar importance but with an emphasis on the biological parameters of sexual dysfunctions is the ESSM Manual of Sexual Medicine, 1the 2013 edition, 2nd edition 2015, and 3rd editionthe publication expected in 2025. In this book she was again a member of the editorial team.
• In 2024, together with Professor of Psychiatry N.Vaidakis they were editors of a multi-author book in Clinical Sexology for health professionals.

Beyond being the editor, in the above books, as well as in two more international books, she also participated by writing chapters. Most of her chapters deal with psychogenic erectile dysfunction, ejaculation problems (premature or difficult), arousal difficulties in women, sexual pain problems and desire problems.

Since 2020 she has been participating in a European working group for the introduction of the course of sexology in the undergraduate studies of medicine and psychology of all European Universities. Unfortunately, sexual health is still not taught in undergraduate studies. Dr. Kirana was responsible for creating the curriculum on the treatment of sexual dysfunctions.

From 2010 and up to today she teaches systematically. She has organized and participated in a series of educational activities by the Institute for the Study of Urological Diseases, she teaches at the postgraduate program of the EPIPSY in Athens, in all the educational activities of the European Society for Sexual Medicine and also in the postgraduate course in sexology of the University of Milan.

In 2019, together with Francesca Tripodi they founded International Online Sexology Supervisors IOSS. It is an international online platform providing continuing education for sexologists. High quality educational material is provided with over 50 instructors, the most renowned in the international field of clinical sexology. As she is responsible for the design and production of educational materials, she selects the topics and speakers, and works closely with them with the aim of continuously improving the clinical practice of sexologists at an international level.

Recognizing the need for men with erectile dysfunction and their partners for information, she created www.mindmyerection.com. This is a series of videos through which she explains the mechanisms that maintain the problem as well as strategies to self manage it. The videos are in English with Greek subtitles and are recommended for those who suffer from this problem.

Although Dr Kirana is primarily a clinical scientist, she has also published studies in the most prestigious international journals in the field. She has also served as an Associate Editor at the Journal Sexual Medicine and a reviewer in the most important scientific journals of sexual medicine such as the Journal of Sexual Medicine, the International Journal for Impotence Research and Sexual Medicine.

All of the above are parallel activities with her clinical practice which started in 2003 in her private office. Committed to providing psychosexual therapy, and combined with the long and valuable experience of working in medical teams specialized in Sexual Medicine, she has developed models that seek interventions with the least possible number of sessions, in order to quickly restore the sexual life of people with problems. The close cooperation with specialized doctors, the knowledge from her first qualification as a Health Psychologist and the constant engagement with international sexological scientific committees gave her the ability to synthesize different therapeutic methods, depending on the problem and the client’s profile. Her management approach is always based on scientific evidence while taking into account the psychological and biological parameters of the problem, the characteristics of the specific person and the characteristics of the relationship.

Since 2016 she provides online sessions to people living in Greece, Europe and America. Treatments are provided in Greek and English. Her office is available for those who prefer FtF sessions. Regardless of her international career, the clinical practice of the profession has and will always be her priority.
